One of the best ways to earn coins in CastleVille is through farming. Just as in earlier Zynga games like FarmVille and CityVille, farming crops allows you to plant seeds, tend to your garden, and then harvest the crops for coins once they’re finished growing. In CastleVille, there’s even a new concept called irrigation which gives you small benefits from placing your farm plots near water. Even though there’s a lot more to CastleVille than farming, it is an important part of the game, and knowing a few CastleVille farming cheats and strategies will go a long way towards helping you out in the game.
The Basics of Farming
The introductory quests, such as those from the Farming 101 chain, will teach you everything you really need to know. But to recap, you can purchase farm plots in the Market and place them anywhere inside the borders of your Kingdom. You can click on an empty plot to plant seeds. A menu will appear, allowing you to choose from a set of crops. Then plant the seeds and wait the required amount of time for the crops to be ready to harvest. Then you’ll harvest them for coins. Planting does not use up energy, but harvesting does.
Irrigation Explained
In CastleVille, location matters. Try placing your farm plots near water. In the beginning of the game, this is your pond. When the plots are close enough, you’ll see them fill with water to show that they are irrigated. Plots that are irrigated improve the harvesting time by 5%. Although it’s not a huge improvement, it can really help when planting long harvest items like Wheat or Strawberries.
Withering
Remember to come back and harvest your crops once they’re ready. If you wait too long, they will wither and die. You’ll either need a friend to come and revive them, or clear them and start over.
What to Plant
Not sure what you should be planting? It all comes down to how often you log in to play the game and how much time you want to spend farming. If you can log in frequently, then choose a short cycle crop like Grapes, which are ready for harvesting in just 5 minutes. If you don’t play all that often, Wheat is a good choice. It takes 24 hours to grow.
